Yas Waterworld, Abu Dhabi – All you need to know
Yas Waterworld on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi set a new criterion in aqua park design. When it’s too humidity on the beach, but you still want to enjoy in the sun then, there are just two words for this: Yas Waterworld. It is the first hybrid park of its kind and is rated as one of the ace waterparks in the UAE. The water park covers 11 hectares, has 43 rides and attractions set among caves, mountains, rivers and beaches, including four ideal ‘world’s first’ rides and activities and the space to host 7,000 visitors. Yas Waterworld is now an intrinsic part of Yas Island’s entertainment hub and is the newest tourism harbor for Abu Dhabi.
Rides at Yas Waterworld
Yas waterpark has over 40 different rides spread over 6 different zones, each with its own exclusive appeal. The park is divided into four ‘thrill levels’: Adrenaline Rush, Exciting Adventure, Moving and Grooving and, finally, Young Fun.
Jabel Drop: Highest Water Slide
No other ride in Yas Waterworld is as thrilling as the Jabel Drop. It has a vertical drop waterslide, where you can get an awesome view of the whole park as you slide down. As it is one of the more famous rides at Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi with a long queue.
Dawwama is debatably going to be the big highpoint of the whole park. The 20-metre high funnel ride uses hydromagnetic power to boost six riders uphill. Cameras installed inside the ride are intended to capture the expressions of pure fright on riders’ faces. It also holds the world record of the world’s longest run-in, at a mind-bogglingly gigantic 238 metres long.
Falcon’s Falaj: Longest Water Coaster in the Middle East
This fascination is a roller coaster on water, hence ‘water coaster’. At 300 metres, Falcon’s Falaj is legitimately the longest mammoth water coaster ride in the Middle East and its core goal is to make people scream. Given that it comprises of so many twists, turns, rapids and drops it’s probably safe to say they’ll attain that specific goal.
World’s largest surfable sheet wave, the Bubbles’ Barrel features a 3-metre high wave and 1,250 pumps pushing 7,000 litres per second. The smaller Rush Rider is planned for those new to flow boarding and surfing. Await to get dumped in the water a few times along the way though! World champion flow boarder, Clayton Barker will be on hand to do demos and offer some coaching.
Another record-breaking charm at this Abu Dhabi waterpark is the Bandit Bomber. At 550 metres long, Bandit Bomber is the solitary suspended rollercoaster in the Middle East – in fact, it’s the only water rollercoaster at all in the Middle East. Not only will you be suspended upside down but you can moreover shoot your water jet at targets, triggering special effects and dropping water bombs. With a capacity of 700 guests per hour, audiences can also enjoy the fun and enthusiasm by interacting from below at the special zones such as the Jabha Zone – one of the Bandit Bomber’s interactive drop zones where visitors can spray water on coaster riders as they zoom by.
There are quite a few cafes, snack shops and restaurants to satisfy your needs.
- Salma’s Snack Shop: Top for a quick bite, choose from salads, sandwiches, fresh fruit and smoothies and it’s next to Tot’s Playground and Yehal Infants Pool.
- Dana’s Diner: Take a break with their BBQ wings, burgers, salads and sandwiches in the Souk near the Bubble Barrel Flow Rider.
- Chubby’s Kitchen: Relish different cuisines such as Arabic, Indian and Western treats, while watching the pearl divers and rollercoaster which is next to the Bandit Bomber.
- Skinny’s Frozen Treats: The finest way to cool down the summer heat is with some frozen lemonade, shaved ice or ice cream.
Apart from all the rides, there’s plenty of additional things to do to keep yourself engaged in between getting soaked. From the themed products at Sultan and Sons through to Arabic spices and souvenirs at Ibhar Island.

How to get to Yas Waterworld
The perfect way to get to Yas Waterworld is by car. If you have chosen one of the Yas Waterworld hotel packages, the hotel may arrange shuttle services. If you are coming from Dubai, the park is an hour and 15-minutes’ drive from Downtown Dubai and is comfortably accessible.
